You may be coming to TED having never worked with kids before. Don't worry - it's a well-trodden path that many of us have taken. Here, you can find advice and hints collected from our teachers about how they made the adjustment to working with kids for the first time, as well as more experiences from teachers around the world.
Surviving English with Young Learners
Below is a video of Shelly Terrell, who works with kids in Germany, doing a Pecha Kucha presentation in which she gives a goldmine of tips about working with kids. It's great viewing for new teachers as well as the experienced ones! What is a Pecha Kucha you ask? Well, it's a kind of PowerPoint presentation containing 20 slides with minimal text, each of which advances automatically after 20 seconds. That makes for a presentation full of information but lasting a mere 6 minutes and 40 seconds! Enjoy!
